Kana Murakoshi
Kana Murakoshi was born near the home of Kawai and Yamaha music companies. Participation in youth orchestra in this vibrant musical community prepared her well for a transition to a new culture and language in America. Fortunately, she already spoke the musical language so well that she was awarded both the John Phillip Sousa and the Senior Showmanship Award by the Dublin-Scioto Marching Band. Kana is now a flute performance major at Ohio State University. She plays in the OSU Wind Symphony and the OSU Symphony Orchestra. She assists in the OSU Flute Workshop under the direction of Katherine Borst Jones and in various Marching Band camps. Kana has been honored to play for L.A. Philharmonic jazz flutist Jim Walker, Alexa Still, and Detroit Symphony Orchestra flutists in master classes, and is an officer in the Sigma Alpha Iota music sorority, which she serves as Editor/Historian.
